A's Book Tournament

Our elementary school participated in a state reading competition, Oregon Battle of the Books. Children in grades 3 -5 (or 6-9) read 14 specific books and formed teams of 5 and competed by having to answer detailed questions about the content of the books. They had to know the titles and authors of the books for answers. R coached M's team, which did stellar for 3rd grade. G coached A's team, which won their school competition and went on to the Regional competition yesterday.

G was on call and had to miss the event, which may have been good. For all his laughing at sports parents who get too involved and yell at coaches, he found the shoe on the other foot after taking on the school librarian on one of the questions at the school level. He thought it might be good for him to miss Regionals.

This is a photo of her team. Also, Happy Eleventh to A!
